Helen Seymour

Seymour, Helen passed away peacefully on October 19th, 2021 at the age of 91. She was born June 10, 1930 in Farnhamville, IA to Francis and Arvilla (Whitehead) Fisher. She moved to Central City, NE in 1944 and graduated from Central City High School in 1947. After graduation, she moved to Grand Island and married William A. “Bill” Seymour on April 28th, 1948. Helen was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and served on the Board of Trustees, sponsored Youth Fellowship seven years taught Kindergarten Sunday School. She worked for Wolbach’s Department Store, KRGI radio station for 13 years and Skagway Department store for 22 years. Helen was a charter member of the G.I. Joggers Club and a well-known accomplished runner. She was a long-time member of the Grand Island YMCA. In 1989, she moved to Lincoln, NE where she was employed by Provident Federal Saving Bank, Commercial Federal Savings Bank, the Nebraska University Football Department and Prairie Life Center. Helen was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church and the University of Nebraska SAGE group. Helen Seymour is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Robert (Kathy) Seymour of Omaha, Terry (Colleen) Seymour of Lincoln, Scott (Linda) Seymour of Thornton, CO; daughter and son-in-law, Jana (Jay) Holle of Olathe, KS and daughter Kelly of Lincoln; eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; she is also survived by a brother-in-law, Jerry Seymour of Grand Island. She was preceded in death by husband, Bill of Grand Island, parents Francis and Arville Fisher of Grand Island and brothers Bob and Francis Fisher. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, October 26th, 2021 at the Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island with Reverend Dan Safarik officiating. Burial will follow in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM on Monday, October 25th at Apfel Funeral Home.
