Former Juniata resident, Herman C. Kloke, 97, passed away, Saturday, June 25, 2011, at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings-Village. Rosary will be Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 7:30 at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 10:30 AM at the Assumption Catholic Church, in Assumption, NE with Father Thomas Brouillette officiating. Burial will be in the Assumption Cemetery, Assumption, NE with military rites. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 29, 2011 from 9 AM to 7:30 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Herman was born September 25, 1913 to John S. and Anna (Goeken) Kloke in Cummings County, West Point, NE. He was a sergeant and served in the United States Army Air Corp. from September 26, 1942 to February 23, 1946 during WWII. He married Regina Konen on September 5, 1956 at the St. Marys Cathedral Church in Cheyenne, Wyoming; she passed away December 22, 2003. Herman worked for the Nebraska State Game and Parks Division prior to moving to Hastings in 1956. He operated the Konen Conoco station on West Hwy 6 after the death of Peter Konen in 1957, subsequently Kloke Conoco Service until retiring in 1983. During retirement he was active in the Adams County Senior Citizen Council and the Roseland Senior Citizen Club. Herman was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church, in Assumption, NE. He moved to Good Samaritan Society, Hastings-Village in 2003. He was an excellent gardener and kept a beautiful country yard. He enjoyed visiting with his family, friends and customers over the years. He is survived by one sister, JoHanna Kloke of West Point, NE and one sister-in-law, Caroline Maunu of Pasadena, CA, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Regina and eight brothers and two sisters. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the family.
