Kenesaw resident, Irene M. Struss, 87, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Kenesaw Haven Home, Kenesaw, NE. Services will be Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 10:30 am at the Christ Lutheran Church, rural Juniata, with Rev. Greg Volske officiating. Burial will be in the Concordia Cemetery near Juniata, NE. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 26, 2013 from 12 noon to 8 pm with the family present from 7 pm to 8 pm at the Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home, Kenesaw, NE and one hour prior to service time at the church. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Memorials may be given to the donors choice or the Concordia Cemetery. Irene was born July 20, 1925 to Fred and Mary (Frese) Uden in rural Juniata, NE. She graduated from the Juniata High School in 1943. She married Robert Struss April 20, 1947. Irene was a homemaker and worked at Haven Home in Kenesaw, NE as a cook for a few years. She was a lifelong member of the Christ Lutheran Church near Juniata, NE and a member of the LWML and the Ladies Guild. She was on a bowling league and loved to quilt. She is survived by her husband Robert of Kenesaw, NE, three sons, Roger Struss of Kenesaw, NE, Lavern Struss and wife Laura of Port Neches, TX and Daniel Struss and wife Jennifer of Longmont, CO, one daughter Kathryn Johnson of Hastings, NE, six grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and one sister, Dorothy Slater, of Waterloo, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Lawrence, Elmer and Marvin and one sister Leona Oeschlaeger.
