Omaha resident, Irvin Joseph Beiriger, 91, passed away Tuesday October, 11, 2011 at the Methodist Womans Hospital, Omaha, NE. Services will be Monday, October 17, 2011 at 10 AM at the Saint Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church in Omaha, NE with Father James Tiegs officiating. Graveside service will be Monday, October 17, 2011 at 3 PM at Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, NE with Father Michael Houlihan officiating, with military rites. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Irvin was born January 2, 1920 to Charles and Mary (Hoffman) Beiriger in Adams County, NE. He served in the United States Army from January 6, 1942 to October 9, 1945. He enlisted just 30 days after the attack on Pearl Harbor and 4 days after his 22 birthday. He was deployed with the 126 Regiment of the 32 (Red Arrow) Divisions to Adelaide, Australia. Irv saw action in New Guinea until June 1944, when he was transferred to Fort Benning, GA and assigned to the Army Airborne. He married Wauneta F. Kent on July 25, 1944 in Hastings, NE. Irvin grew up in Hastings, NE and had lived there until 1973, moving to Denver, CO, living there until 1985 then moving to Omaha, NE, living there until his death. He retired from Western Plastic Corp in 1985 after a 35 year career in Hastings, NE and Denver, CO. He was the founder and operated Midwest Lawn Sprinkler Company in Hastings, NE. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife Wauneta, of Omaha, NE, and two sons, Steven C. and wife Maxine of Scottsdale, AZ and Thomas A. and wife Linda of Omaha, NE. four grandchildren, Bryan C. Beiriger and wife Donna of Highland Park, Illinois, Melissa B. Hill and husband Trey of Dallas, TX, Matthew A. Beiriger and wife Erin of Omaha, NE and Elizabeth A. Beiriger of Watertown, MA. And 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and all eleven brother and sisters.
