Hastings resident, Jack L. Cagley, 88, passed away, Wednesday, May 06, 2015 at Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare, Hastings.



Private family burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings, is in charge of the arrangements.



Jack was born June 15, 1926 to Brownlee and Erma (Witt) Cagley in Kingsley, Iowa. He attended school in Kingsley, graduating from high school in 1944. He served in the United States Navy from May 14, 1944 to April 17, 1946. He participated in the liberation of the Philippine invasion of Okinawa and the occupation of Japan at Sasebo, Japan.



He married Dolores Skalicky in Sioux City, Iowa, on Valentines Day, they shared 67 years together. He began working for the Great Lakes Pipe Line in 1948, later called Williams Pipe Line. He retired in 1989 with 41 years of service. After retirement they wintered in Phoenix and enjoyed traveling. He had lived in Hastings since 1958.



He is survived by his wife Dolores of Hastings, son, Mark of Phoenix, AZ.



He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Carol and two brothers.
