Jack R. Wadman

Juniata resident, Jack R. Wadman, 70, passed away, Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, NE. Services will be Saturday, January 23, 2010, at 1:30 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings, NE with the Rev. Greg Volzke officiating. Burial will be in the Concordia Cemetery near Prosser, NE. Visitation will be Friday, January 22, 2010 from 9 AM to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Jack was born April 21, 1939, in Exeter, NE. to Carl and Irene (Burg) Wadman. He attended Alcott grade school in Hastings, NE. When Jack was 8 years old he chased foul balls at Duncan field for 50 cents a game, and did that for three years. When he was 9years old he started delivering papers for the Hastings Tribune, and had two paper routes. He carried papers until he was 14 years old, and then became city carrier supervisor by day. At night he set pins for the bowling alley. He graduated from Hastings Senior High in 1957. When he was 18 he went to work at the Hastings Regional Center in the kitchen, and worked there one year before going to work for Safeway. He worked his way to assistant manager, and quit in 1965. He married Linda Burr on October 24, 1970. He went to work for the post office until he and his wife moved to Shreveport, LA, in 1971. In Shreveport he did commercial construction work until he went to work for Capitol Construction, in Chicago, IL, as a field superintendent in 1975. They moved to Alma, NE. in 1980, and purchased the bowling alley. He ran it for three years, and then sold it. He went to work for Metz Baking Company, and worked for them until 1987, and then he went back to work for Capitol Construction. He worked for them until 1991. Due to health problems he quit, and then he worked awhile for Orleans Milling, near Orleans, NE. He went to work for the Kansas Department of Corrections, near Norton, KS, in 1992, and retired from there in 2003. Him, and his wife, Linda moved from Almena, KS. in 2004,to a farm near Juniata, NE. His outstanding jobs he had with Capitol Construction were working in the Smithsonian Institute, building the stand for the glider that went around the world. He also worked in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and built Cache Dress Shop in Donald Trumps, Taj Mahal. Jack was a past member of the Elks, the Eagles, and Southern Hills all in Hastings, NE. He was an avid fisherman, and hunter. Jack, Linda, and their friends, and relatives had many wonderful camping, and fishing trips on the Repubican River, near Alma, and they will never be forgotten. He is survived by his wife Linda, of Juniata, NE, two daughters, Stephanie Snow and husband Ron of Pauline, NE., and Teresa Mullen, and husband Don of Hastings, NE. 3 grandchildren, Aaron Snow, Hastings, NE., Deidra Snow, Pauline, Ne., and Nathan Mullen, Hastings, NE. 3 great-grandchildren, Landon, Kamrynn, and Ashlynn Snow, of Hastings, NE. He was preceded in death by parents. Memorials may be given to the family.
