James "'Jim'" Cemper

James Jim Cemper, 71, of Grand Island died Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at his home with his family by his side.



Services will be at 11 am on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island with Derek Apfel officiating. Visitation will be on Monday evening from 5 to 7 pm at Apfel Funeral Home. Apfel Funeral Home is serving the family.



Jim Cemper was born August 7, 1945 at David City, Nebraska the son of Anton & Marie (Schmid) Cemper. He grew up in David City and attended school there. He was united in marriage to Sharon Meyer, October 4, 1980 in Grand Island, NE. The couple resided in Grand Island where he was employed by Hesselgessers and later with Roe-Buick.



He loved fishing, camping and especially painting cars.



He was a member of the Eagles Club.



Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Sharon Cemper of Grand Island, three daughters and sons-in-law, Jody & Terry (Meyer) Pullins, Tammie & Rick (Cemper) McComb, Jeanette & Rick (Cemper) McDonald, three brothers and sisters-in-law, Gene & Sunny Cemper, Larry & Laurie Cemper, Vic & Janice Cemper, two sisters, Betty & Bud (Cemper) Rhea and Debbie Cemper. 17 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton & Marie Cemper, and a grandson Michael Palmateer.
