James M. English

James M. English, 60, of Grand Island died Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Tiffany Square Care Center in Grand Island. Services will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Berean Bible Church in Grand Island with Rev. Scott Friesen officiating. Entombment will be at the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until service time Friday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family. James M. English was born on October 15, 1952 in West Point, Nebraska, the son of Martin and Ruth (Wendt) English. He grew up in Beemer, Nebraska and graduated from Beemer High School in 1970. After graduation he entered the United States Army in December of 1972. He served during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in December of 1974. James graduated from Wayne State College and worked various jobs around the Beemer area before he began his career working for the FDIC in 1985. He moved to Grand Island also in 1985, and has lived there since. His health forced him to stop working within the last couple months. James was a member of the Berean Bible Church in Grand Island. He was the first Eagle Scout in Beemer. He enjoyed his career, his time with friends and family and especially his cats. James is survived by a brother, Myron Paulsen of Beemer, sisters; Marilyn Oswald of Lincoln, Eldene Thomsen of Nickerson, NE and Marilyn Richardson of Beemer, as well as nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
