James Robert 'Red' Hynes

Former Harvard resident, James Robert Red Hynes, 85, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2010 at his home. Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, December 27, 2010 at 2 PM at the St. Josephs Catholic Church, in Harvard, NE, with Father James Benton officiating. Burial will be in the Harvard Cemetery, Harvard, NE with military rites. Visitation will be Sunday, December 26, 2010 from 12 noon to 9 PM at the Alberding-Wilson Funeral Home, Harvard, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. James was born April 12, 1925 in Bladen, NE. He grew up in Guide Rock, NE and graduated from Guide Rock High School in 1943. After he graduated from high school he entered the US Navy and served in WWII for 5 years. On April 18, 1949 he married Vivian LaVone Hahn and they were married for 61 years. They lived in Harvard from 1953 to 2007 and he worked for the City of Harvard until his retirement in 1991. They had 5 children. He is survived by his wife Vivian LaVone of Hastings, NE; his 5 children and spouses Terry Hynes and wife Carol of Mesa, AZ; Nan Loutzenhiser and husband Jan of North Platte, NE; Greg Hynes of Lincoln, NE; Melissa Hynes of Lincoln, NE; and Denise Gabaldon and husband Steve of Cave Creek, AZ; his 4 grandchildren, Kory Hynes and wife Megan of Omaha, NE; Drew Loutzenhiser of Scottsbluff, NE; Nicole Gibbons of Sussex, NJ; Jocelyn Loutzenhiser of North Platte, NE; and 1 great grandchild, Austin James Hynes of Omaha, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Josephine (DeTour) Hynes; his brother and sister-in-law Raymond and Marie Hynes; and his nephew Tim Hynes. A memorial will be established by the family at a later date.
