Janice L. Weiler

Hastings resident, Janice L. Weiler, 71, of 2305 West 3rd, died Saturday, June 9, 2007 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, NE. Rosary will be Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at 7 PM at Brand-Wilson Chapel, Hastings, NE with Father Lawrence Gyhra officiating. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at 10 AM at St. Cecilias Catholic Church, Hastings, NE with Father Lawrence Gyhra officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, NE. Visitation will be Monday, June 11, 2007 from 5 PM to 9 PM and Tuesday, 9 AM to 7 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, and one hour prior to service time.Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Mrs. Weiler was born October 7, 1935 to Leonard and Irene (Davis) Winfrey in Wolbach, NE. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1953. In 1955 she graduated from Kearney State Teachers College in Kearney, NE with a Certificate in teaching. She married Dr. Leo Weiler June 1, 1957 they later divorced. She was a teacher in the Omaha and Hastings Public Schools. In 1973 she worked at Garey Management Organization; (G.M.O.) retiring in 2003. She lived in the Hastings community most her life. She was a member of the St. Cecilias Catholic Church, the Hastings Area Retired Teachers Association, an Honorary member of the Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association and Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association Auxiliary and the Society for Theriogenology. She is survived by, 1 daughter, Jane E. Weiler of Hastings, NE. 1 son, L. Michael Weiler of Lincoln, NE. 1 grandson, Adam of Lincoln, NE. 2 sisters, Imogene MacDonald of Fayetteville, AK, and Joyce Wilson of Winona, MN. 1 brother, David Winfrey, of Aurora, CO and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by, her parents, 1 son, Steven P. Weiler and 1 brother, John Winfrey. Memorials may be given to the family for the Pulmonary Hypertension research or the Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association Centennial Scholarship Foundation.
