Jeanette Rae Wray

Former Hastings resident, Jeanette Rae Wray, 80, passed away on Saturday,

January 11, 2014, in Lincoln, NE.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 1st at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. There will be no visitation; Jeanettes wishes were to be cremated. Memorials may be directed to the Hastings Public Library in her memory. Condolences may be sent to www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home Hastings are in charge of the arrangements.

Jeanette was born October 3, 1933 to Earl Howard and Carol Jean (Hossle) Myers in Hastings, NE. She attended Hastings schools and graduated from Hastings High in 1951. She also attended Hastings College. She married Carl Lynwood Wray in Hastings on February 16, 1954, Carl passed away March 29, 1984.

Jeanette was a past employee of the Hastings Tribune in bookkeeping and also has worked at Weyerhaeuser, Pay Way Feeds. She retired in 1993 as an executive assistant from Central Soya.

She volunteered at the Hastings Public Library and was a member of the P.E.O. Hastings, NE Chapter.

Jeanette was an avid bridge player and even taught others how to play. She belonged to many bridge groups. Jeanette also taught adult literacy classes. She enjoyed the arts, music, traveling and gardening her flowers.

She is survived by three children, Holly McDaniel and husband Duane of Waukesha, WI, Teresa Pieloch of Lincoln, NE, and Stephen Wray and wife Julie of Albuquerque, NM, seven grandchildren, Sarah McDaniel, Rebecca McDaniel, Rachel Pieloch, Katherine Pieloch, Alex Pieloch, Nicholas Pieloch and Jordan Wray, two nephews, Mike Myers of Branson, MO and Mark Myers of Hastings and a sister in law, Carol Echternach of Hastings.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl and one brother, William (Bill) Myers.
