Jeffrey “Jeff” Webben, age 60 of Grand Island, NE lost his battle with cancer on April 28, 2021, at CHI Health St. Francis surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be 10:30am Monday, May 3rd at Third City Christian Church with Pastor Scott Jones officiating. Interment will be in Shelton Cemetery at 1:30pm. Visitation will be from 4-6pm on Sunday, May 2nd at Third City Christian Church.
Memorials are to be decided at a later date. Arrangements are through the Apfel Funeral Home – Grand Island.
Jeff was born on July 6, 1960, at Grand Island, NE to Donald and Sharon “Kay” (Christiansen) Webben. He grew up in Shelton, NE as a proud farm boy. He received his education at Shelton High School then went on to Hastings Community College and received a degree in diesel mechanics then Central Community College to obtain an associates degree in electronics. He was united in marriage to Teresa “Terri” Spellman on June 20, 1981, at the Wood River Catholic Church. After which the couple lived in Grand Island, NE where he was employed at Green Line Equipment, IAMS Pet Food in Aurora, NE and Green Plains in York, NE.
He was a member of Third City Christian Church where he enjoyed exploring his faith, which led him on a mission to Guatemala. He enjoyed being a general handy man using his MacGyver techniques to make things better than they were. His other hobbies included old cars and watching ID TV in his favorite armchair with his trusty dogs Pismo and Echo at his feet. May 2nd is Jeff’s 8-year sobriety birthday, which his family was extremely proud of him for.
Survivors include spouse Terri. Sons Don (Mattie) Webben of Kearney, NE and Devon Webben of Omaha, NE. Daughter Danielle (Nick) Lausterer of Wahoo, NE. Mother Kay Webben of Shelton. Brother Jamie (Pam) Webben of Shelton and sister Jody Horner (Fred) of Loup City. Brothers and sisters in law Steve and Jan Spellman of Kearney, NE, Sue and Warren Robbins of Minden, NE and Jeff and Kris Spellman of Shelton, NE. Grandchildren Rex and Viola (Don), Sebastian, Griffin, Maliyah, Willa and Leni (Danielle) as well as many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his grandparents Frank and Stella Webben, Donald and Dorothy Christensen and Gale and Maureen Jackson, father Donald Webben, mother-in-law Viola Spellman.
