Jerry D. Brown

Jerry D. Brown, 81, of Grand Island died, Friday, May 12, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society of Grand Island.

Services will be at 10:30 am, Tuesday, May 15, 2017 at First Faith United Methodist Church, Grand Island with Rev. Trudy Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Island. Visitation hours will be from 4 to 6 pm on Monday evening at the Apfel Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Meals on Wheels. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family.

Jerry D. Brown was born August 1, 1935 in Lincoln, Nebraska and was adopted at the age of 5 by Harry G. & Lula V. (Badburg) Brown. He grew up and received his education in Ogallala.

He entered the United States Air Force, March 8, 1954 serving in Germany and was honorably discharged November 26, 1957.

He was united in marriage to Alice Faye Starkey, March 8, 1959 in Ogallala, Nebraska, moving to Grand Island in 1966, where he was employed at Ford New Holland, retiring in 1991.

He was a member of The Eagles Club and Rolling Eagles Camping Club.

He enjoyed camping and bird watching.

Those left to cherish this memory include his wife, Faye Brown of Grand Island, two daughters & son-in-law, Vicky L. & Stephen Hoch of Portland, Oregon, Stacy J. Nunn of Hastings, one son, Duane C. Brown of Grand Island, nine grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
