Jody “Joe” L. Buck, 47, of Grand Island died Monday June 11, 2018, at home of health complications. The family will greet friends from 4-6 pm Thursday, June 14, 2018, at Apfel Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Grand Island Dog Park; since Joe would say “It’s all about the dogs, all of the time.”
Jody “Joe” Lee was born November 9, 1970, in Grand Island to Jim and Linda (Ring) Buck. He grew up in Grand Island and graduated from Northwest High School in 1989. He received his bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting in 1993, from UNL. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He pursued work in advertising. In 2001, Joe moved to California, opening his own business. He worked primarily making commercials in the music industry. In 2013, Joe moved back to Grand Island where he continued to make commercials.
Joe enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was an excellent chef who loved entertaining. He enjoyed taking his beloved dog “Benny” to the GI Dog Park. Joe was a very talented individual with a kind and gentle soul. He loved all creatures great and small.
Survivors include his parents: Jim and Linda Buck of Grand Island; aunt: Gloria Christensen of Holdrege, NE; uncle: Kenny Ring of Osceola, NE; and many cousins. Also left to cherish his memory are his extended family; Pat and Marvin Miller of Grand Island, Rusty and Jim Barth of Cedar Rapids, IA, Steve and Cindy Paustian of St. Paul, NE, and very special friend Karla.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Helen and CM Buck, John and Leola Priest; and infant brothers: Jeffrey Allen and Jason John.
