John F. Adams

Hastings resident, John F. Adams, 97, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014 at the Kensington, Hastings.

Services will be Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 10 am at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor William Nottage-Tacey officiating. Burial will be in the Rosedale Cemetery near Doniphan. Visitation will be Wednesday. March 5, 2014 from 4 pm to 7 pm with family present. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings, is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be donors choice.

John was born January 23, 1917 to Frank L. and Hattie (Moore) Adams in rural Hall county near Rosedale, NE. He attended county school and graduated from the Doniphan High School. He graduated with his Bachelors of Science Degree in 1939 from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. He married Goldie Fossberg on September 8, 1940 in Hordville, NE, Goldie passed away on May 21, 1998. He was a Pharmacist in Hastings at Berts Pharmacy for 72 years retiring in 2011.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Lions Club and the Nebraska Pharmaceutical Association. John enjoyed gardening, traveling and making candy and jellies.

He is survived by his son, James R. Adams and wife Mia of Marshalltown, IA and his daughter Mary Jo Blas and husband Allen of Hordville, NE, and two grandsons, Travis J. Kolar of Cedar Rapids, NE and Marc G. Kolar of Spalding, NE.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Goldie, three brothers and a sister.
