At our Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home location, Kenesaw, NE. Hastings resident, John Jay A. Dowdy, 82, passed away Monday, November 15, 2010 at the Kenesaw Haven Home, Kenesaw, NE. Services will be Friday, November 19, 2010 at 10:30 AM at the Presbyterian Church in Kenesaw, NE, with Pastor Beth Fotinos officiating. Cremation was held, book signing will be Thursday, November 18, 2010 from 4 PM to 8 PM with the family present at the Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home, Kenesaw, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Presbyterian Church in Kenesaw, NE. Jay was born July 15, 1928 to John A. and Retha (Killingsworth) Dowdy in Quail, TX. He graduated from the Vici Public Schools in OK. He married Lois Dowdy, on November 7, 1948; they were married 56 years before she passed away. He married Marleene M Burling on September 15, 2005. He worked construction, for the Southwest Telephone Company, and the Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Company for 30 years retiring in 1984. In 1985 he did solar installation and worked for Darion Hlavacek in appliance repair and was self employed in appliance repair for 12 years. Jay enjoyed building and flying remote controlled airplanes and golfing. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Kenesaw,NE. He is survived by his wife Marleene of Hastings, NE, 2 daughters, Brenda Rundel of Hastings, NE, Jonna Stasyszen and husband Bill of Shelbyville, KY, 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 4 step grandchildren, one sister, Nell Taylor of Halstead, KS and one brother Larry Brooks and wife Faith of Hutchinson, KS and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Lois, his parents, sister, Lila Coats and half brother Floyd Brooks.
