Hastings resident, Joseph Herman Klitz,74 passed away, Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at the Grand Island Veterans Hospital.
Services will be Monday, February 16, 2015 at 11 am at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings with Chaplain Sid Bruggeman officiating. Burial with military rites at Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Visitation will be Sunday, February 15, 2015 from 2 pm to 5 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Joe was born December 14, 1940 to Frank and Gertrude (Kaup) Klitz in Dodge, NE. He served in the United States Army from December 9, 1963 to December 7, 1965. He married Pamela Jones on July 19, 1986 in Hastings. Joe worked as a cattle feed lot manager.
He is survived by his wife Pamela of Hastings, two step-sons, Scott (Carrie Marx) Whitcomb, of Ary, Todd (Tina) Whitcomb of Hastings, four brothers, Francis (Theresa) Klitz of West Point, Charles Klitz of Omaha, Gene (Patti) Klitz of Chadron and Mike(Karrie) Klitz of Bennington, NE, five sisters, Rosemary Stander of Ashland, Dottie Heimann of Omaha, Rita Walter of Baldwin, MO, Mary Jo Wilson and Bob Benning of Blair and Patty Helle and Darwin Samuleson of Omaha, and many step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Margaret Ortmeier and Jan Reilly.
