Joy Y Zana

Joy Y. Zana, 85 of Grand Island, died Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Tiffany Square Care Center, Grand Island.



Services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Caroline Price-Gibson officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Island. Visitation hours will be 4-6 p.m. Monday, October 16, 2017 at the Apfel Funeral Home, Grand Island. Memorials are suggested to Grand Island Community Foundation, James & Joy Zana Scholarship. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family.



Joy Y. Zana was born, October 13, 1931 in Springdale, Pennsylvania the daughter of Herman & Ella Mae (Steele) Yost. She received her education in Springdale, Pennsylvania graduating from high school in 1949. She was united in marriage to James Jim P. Zana, February 16, 1952 in Springdale, Pennsylvania. The couple made their home in Grand Island. Her husband, Jim preceded her in death on March 7, 2006. Also, her sister and brother-in-law, Gerry and Merle Peed preceded her in death.



She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Grand Island. She was very involved in Continuity Club, various gourmet clubs, and volunteered at the Presbyterian Preschool for 35 years and at Tiffany Square Care Center for 10 years. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. The greatest joy of her life was her 4 grandchildren.



Those left to cherish her memory include two sons & daughters-in-law, Scott & Reba Zana of Grand Island, Mark & Becky Zana of Atlanta, Georgia; a daughter & son-in-law, Tara & Randy Cipriano, of Garland, Nebraska; four grandchildren, Lindsay Zana of Los Angeles, CA, Jaime Zana of Grand Island, NE, Skye Zana of Alpharetta, Georgia, Sienna Cipriano of Garland, Nebraska; brother and sister-in-law, Herman & Nancy Yost of Bonita Springs, Florida/Enfield, Connecticut,
