Juanita T. Ruiz

Juanita T. Ruiz, 85, of Shelton, NE died on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at her home in Shelton.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelton with Fr. Jorge Canela officiating. Burial will follow in the Shelton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Friday, February 2nd at the church concluding with a Rosary at 7 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. 

Juanita was born on February 15, 1938 in Cameron, Texas to David and Marciana (Alvarado) Trevino. She grew up in Slaton, TX and received her education there. She was united in marriage to Pablo Ruiz on March 31, 1954 in Slaton, TX. The couple moved to Shelton, NE in 1966 where she worked at the Ordinance Plant in Alda and later at the nursing home in Gibbon. 

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelton. She was well known for her cooking. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, sewing, reading and her Hallmark movies. 

She is survived by her daughters, Carmen Salinas of Olathe, KS, and Crestina (Roger) Ruyle of Shelton; grandchildren, Jason and Jon Ruyle, and Gabriel, Alicia, and Angela Salinas; 13 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and her siblings, Josie Rendon of Lubbock, TX, Armando Martinez of Lubbock, TX and Minnie Washinton of Grand Island.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Pablo Jr., daughter, Gloria Britt, son-in-law, Tino Salinas, brothers, David Trevino and Mike Martinez, and sister, Susie Casas.
