June M. Quaife, 63, of Grand Island, passed away Monday, January 22, 2018, at UNMC-Nebraska Medicine in Omaha.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 27th at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Father Martin Egging will officiate. Burial will be in the Cameron Cemetery at Wood River. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 PM Friday at Apfel Funeral Home concluding with a Prayer Vigil at 6 PM. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.

June was born on May 26, 1954 in Grand Island to Walter and Erlene (Stauss) Meyer. She grew up in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Senior High in 1972. On June 8, 1984, June married Randy Quaife at Grand Island, where the couple made their home. She was employed by the Nebraska VA Medical Center for over 37 years until her recent retirement.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the AFGE Local 2601 union, of which she served as the first Vice President. Her hobbies included reading, shopping, going to Husker football games, and being at the lake and fishing. She really cared for the veterans she encountered at the VA hospital, most importantly, she enjoyed her time and commitment to her family, along with nurturing her grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory include: husband, Randy Quaife of Grand Island; three sons, Casey and Brenda Quaife of Las Vegas, NV, Cody and Dawn Quaife of Miami, FL, Colby and Ashley Quaife of Avon, IN; two daughters, Amy McCarty of Grand Island, Janelle Quaife and fianc Dillon Davis of Kearney, NE; four grandchildren, Kain Florence, Wyatt Quaife, Landon Quaife, Bentley Quaife; brothers, Walter and Janice Meyer of FL, John and Bonnie Meyer of MT, Frank and Chris Meyer of Grand Island, NE; sisters, Sue Stutzman of KS, Barb Kucera of Grand Island, NE, Sharon Cemper of Grand Island, NE, Jean Shoopman of Ogallala, NE, Lisa and Richard Casebolt of Fullerton, NE.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers-in-law, Larry Kucera, Jim Cemper and Larry Shoopman.
