Karen K. Schneider

Karen Kay Schneider, 59, of Grand Island died Monday, April 18, 2016 at Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island.



Services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Third City Christian Church in Grand Island with the Reverend Scott Jones officiating. Interment will be in Grand Island City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Third City Christian Church or AseraCare Hospice.



Visitation hours will be 4-7 P.M. Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family.



Karen K. Schneider was born January 31, 1957 at Broken Bow, Nebraska the daughter of Leonard & Bonnie (Ferguson) Peterson. She grew up in several Nebraska communities graduating from Ansley High School with the class of 1975. She was united in marriage to Thomas Schneider February 20, 1988 in Grand Island. The couple made their home in Grand Island where she was employed by the City of Grand Island as an accounting clerk.



She was a member of Third City Christian Church and their Bible Study Groups.



Her greatest enjoyment was being with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved to garden and care for her flowers, along with reading and spending time at Sherman Lake with the family.



Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Tom Schneider of Grand Island, two sons & daughter-in-law, Jeff Schneider of Grand Island, Brandon & Kristi Peterson of ONeill, daughter and fianc, Kari Schneider & Nate Lau of Lincoln, two grandchildren, Parker & Dani Peterson, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Randy & Dixie Peterson of Broken Bow, Gary & Deanna Peterson of Loup City, a sister & brother-in-law, Joan & Randy Nelson of Ansley, Nebraska along with numerous nieces & nephews and a host of friends.



She was preceded in death by her parents.
