Karen D. Kirkpatrick

Karen Kirkpatrick, 67, of Grand Island, NE, died on October 1, 2023.

Funeral Services will be on Friday, October 6, 2023, at 10:30 AM at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Burial will follow in the Phillips Cemetery in Phillips, NE. Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M. on Thursday October 5, 2023.

Karen Kirkpatrick was born on February 18, 1956, at Grand Island, NE. She grew up in Grand Island receiving her education at One R and Seven East. She graduated from Northwest in 1974. She was united in marriage to Michael Eugene Kirkpatrick on January 18, 1980, at Mandan, North Dakota. After their marriage the couple lived in Glen Ullin, ND before moving to Grand Island in 1985. Karen was employed as a bank teller for over 25 years.

Karen enjoyed playing Aggravation while drinking her red beers, gardening, crocheting, listening to Cher with her granddaughters who affectionately called her, “Meeka.”

She is survived by her daughters: Kerrie Lea Kirkpatrick and Valerie Lynn Kirkpatrick both of Grand Island, NE; grandchildren: Aspen Riskowski and Abalena Riskowski; and Wil Galles who was like a son.

Karen is preceded in death by her husband, Michael Eugene Kirkpatrick; infant son, Eugene Michael Kirkpatrick; her mother, Bonnie Hodgson; parents-in-law Eugene and Joann Kirkpatrick; and brother, Lonnie Hodgson.
