Karla Jane Klavon

Karla J. Klavon, 61, of Grand Island, NE died on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at her home. Funeral Services will be 10 A.M. Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Apfel Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Davenport officiating. Burial will follow in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 5 to 7 P.M. at Apfel Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date. 

Karla was born on November 27, 1962, at Grand Island, NE to Edward and Clara (Sauter) Klavon. She grew up in Grand Island, NE and received her education at Grand Island Senior High. She was united in marriage to Benedict Swartz on August 28, 1982, at Saint Mary’s Cathedral in Grand Island, NE. Three children came from this union, Jennifer Swartz, Anthoney Swartz, and Nathan Swartz. The couple then later divorced. Karla was employed by Grand Island Public Schools for 40 years. She enjoyed scrap booking retreats with her friends. 

She is survived by her children: Jennifer Swartz, Anthoney Swartz, and Nathan Swartz; sister, Karen (Rick) Wintermute; grandchildren: Braden Swartz, Danny Stephens, Grayson Morse, and Zane Swartz; niece, Kristi Wintermute; and nephew, Erik Wintermute.

Karla is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Clara Klavon; and grandchild, Stormi Swartz.
