Kathleen M. Lowe

Kathleen Marie Lowe, 86, of Shelton, died Sunday, May 15, 2016 at her home. Services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, May 20, 2016 at the Shelton United Methodist Church in Shelton, Nebraska. Inurnment will be in the Shelton Cemetery. The Reverend Melody Adams will be officiating. Family will greet friends from 5-7 P.M. Thursday at the Shelton United Methodist Church. Memorials are suggested to the Shelton United Methodist Church or the Shelton Volunteer Fire Department. Apfel Funeral Home is assisting the family.



Kathleen was born on December 29, 1929 in Boelus, Nebraska to Edward and Marie (Hehnke) Moog. She grew up in Boelus and Rockville, moving to Shelton when she was 12 years old. She graduated from Shelton High School in 1947. Kathleen was united in marriage to James "Jim" W. Lowe on June 29, 1947 in Shelton. Nebraska. They made their home on a farm in the Shelton area. They farmed until retirement in 1985, when they moved into Shelton. Kathleen belonged to the "Red Hats Society" and the "Our Nite Out Club." She enjoyed bowling, oil painting, sewing, crafts, and cake decorating. Kathleen and her friend, Helen Widdowson painted (inside and outside) and wallpapered houses for many years together.



Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Nancy Lowe of Shelton, Ed and Peggy Lowe of Shelton; daughter and son-in-law, Leanne and Dan Riley of Shelton; grandchildren and their spouses, Amy and Greg Liss of Chicago, Illinois, Mitchell and Sarah Riley of Marion, IA, Jill and Brian Schukar of Omaha, Katie Dubbs of Shelton, Becky Lowe of Omaha, Michael and Megan Lowe of Wood River, Brad and Casey Lowe of Hickman, Dan Lowe and his fiance, Danielle, of Lincoln; great-grandchildren, Marie, Jude, and Turner Liss, Evan and Loren Riley, Eliza, Vivian, and Riley Schukar, Emily Lowe and Anneliese Dubbs, Parker, Brooks, and Creighton Lowe; sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and John McClellan of St. Paul; sister-in-law, Nola Synovec of North Platte. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Delbert Moog; and an infant brother.
