Kathy Cleveland

Kathleen Kathy Cleveland, 87, of Grand Island died October 21, 2017, at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island.

Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, prior to the services at the Apfel Funeral Home. There will be no visitation.

Services will be at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, at Apfel Funeral Home, Grand Island. The Rev. Paul Canady will officiate.

Kathy was born November 9, 1929 in Boone County Iowa on the family farm, to Lloyd Harold Lewis and Alta Lutz Lewis. Kathy attended Bethel College in St. Paul, MN. She was married to Charles Rex Cleveland on October 12, 1951 in Des Moines, Iowa. To this union they had two children, Loren and Lea. Kathy and Charles resided in Sioux City Iowa, Maxwell , Grand Island, Tulsa Oklahoma and Drake Colorado before returning to Grand Island Nebraska where they currently resided.

While in Grand Island she operated a daycare out of her home, called the Childrens Cottage. She loved children and enjoyed reading them stories about Jesus. She also owned and directed the Montessori Childrens House in Tulsa Oklahoma after she completed courses in Montessori Instruction at the age of sixty five.

She is survived by her husband Charles Cleveland of Grand Island, Ne, Loren Cleveland and wife Darla of Grand Island, Ne, Lea Fultz and her husband Bill of Peoria, AZ. Four grandchildren; Jessica Cleveland of McPherson, Ks, Jennifer (Marcus) Garcia of Wichita, KS, Thomas (Casey) Devlin of Tulsa OK, and Jonathan Devlin of Houston, TX, Five great grandchildren, Ryleigh, Drake and Morgan Devlin, Connor and Cooper Bause, a sister in law Connie Ninneman of Loveland, CO and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd H Lewis and Alta Lutz Lewis and Rex and Paulyne Cleveland , two brothers John O Lewis and L Harold Lewis and one brother In law Dale Ninneman.
