Former Kenesaw resident, Kathy Quackenbush, 84, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare, Hastings.
Memorial services will be Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 3:30 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings with Rev. Dr. Lee Wigert officiating there will be Acacia Eastern Star Rights. Book signing will be Friday, August 24, 2018 from 4 pm to 7 pm with the family present at the Apfel Funeral Home, Kenesaw. Burial will be at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home, Kenesaw is in care of the family.
Memorials may be given to the Tehama Shriners Transportation Fund.
Kathy was born October 1, 1933 to Fred and Margeret (Gere) McCandless in St. John, Kansas. She graduated from Antrim Public School, attended Kansas State University, then graduated from the University of Nebraska. She married Ray W. Quackenbush on June 19, 1955. Kathy owned and operated the Flower Cart in Kenesaw for many years.
She was a member of Acacia Eastern Star #39 and the Hastings JC’s. She enjoyed floral work, ceramics, gardening, sports and fishing.
She is survived by four sons, Lance (Janet) Quackenbush of Juniata, Mike (Conda) Quackenbush of Kenesaw, Brad (Darla) Quackenbush of Broken Bow and Shawn (Kristin) Quackenbush of Topeka, KS, 7 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 1 sister, Dorothy (Don) Heyen, of Kenmore, Oregon, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray and one step grandson.
