Hastings resident, Kenneth Edmond Pingry, 84, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare, Hastings and now lives in his heavenly home.
Services will be Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 10:30 am at All Saints Chapel, Good Samaritan Society with Rev. Dale Phillips officiating. Graveside service will be at 1 pm, Thursday, March 31, 2016 in the Juniata Cemetery, Juniata with military rites by the Hastings Veterans Service. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 30, from 12 noon to 8 pm with family present from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings. Memorials may be given to the Nebraska Heart Institute.
Kenneth was born December 25, 1931 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to John Edmond and Frances Ruby (Ennen) Pingry. He graduated from Plainville High School in Kansas. He married Norma Roemmich-Watson on June 26, 1987 in Hastings, NE. He served in the United States Army and honorably discharged on August 27, 1953 during the Korean Conflict. Kenneth was a salesman for Rogers Incorporate for 35 years.
He was a member of the VFW, Golden Eagles Aerie #592 and the DAV all in Hastings. He was an avid bowler and was a member of a bowling league; he liked to play cards, dominos and enjoyed his family and the great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Norma of Hastings, three step - children, Randall (Verla) Watson, of Arvada, CO, Michelle (Kurt) Olena of Trumbull and James Watson of Lincoln, four step-grandchildren, Nichol Watson of Denver, Aleesha Olena of Kearney, Joel and fiance, (Christina) Olena of Inland and Jovey (Trista) Olena of Trumbull, eight step-great grandchildren, Aaliyah, Kimberly, Keyera, Keomi, Zachariah, Kayden, Joella and Emilie, three sister-in-laws, Betty Struss, of Hastings, Thea Roemmich of Saronville, NE, Virginia Roemmich of Mead, CO, one brother- in-law, Leland (Darlene) Roemmich of Gill Crest, CO, numberous nieces and nephews, and special friend Enoch Ulmer of Hastings,
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Helen and two infant sons.
