Kenneth L. Bly, 77 of Wood River, died Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the Wood River Good Samaritan Center in Wood River.

Services will be at 10 am on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Wood River. Burial will be at St. Marys Cemetery near Wood River. Due to Kens love for classic autos, you are encouraged to bring you classic car to the service for the procession to the cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 4 to 7 pm with a 7 pm Rosary Service at St. Marys Catholic Church in Wood River. Memorials are suggested to the family. Apfel Funeral Home of Wood River is serving the family.

Kenneth L. Bly was born on January 25, 1937 in Loup City, NE, the son of Earl and Velma (Johnson) Bly. He grew up in Loup City, graduating from Loup City High School in 1954.

After his schooling Ken moved to California for a few years. When he returned to central Nebraska Ken worked for Bly and Sons Milk Hauling. He also owned and operated Plexi-lite Sign Company and Sealtite Window and Doors. He became an over the road truck driver before purchasing Rainbow International Carpet Cleaning which he owned and operated until his retirement.

Ken was married to Johanna Radke. He was also united in marriage to Nadine Bly. Nadine died in 2005.

Ken was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Wood River and the Platt-Deutsch in Grand Island. He enjoyed his classic automobiles, golfing, dancing the polka and waltz, playing cards, traveling, and especially his time spent with his family.

Ken is survived by 2 daughters, Sheryl and husband Monte Perkins of Grand Island and Christine Marie VanWinkle of Grand Island, stepson Kurt and wife Rebecca Masek of Kentucky and stepdaughter Kim Masek of Lincoln, his girlfriend who played a special roll in his life, Mary Hall of Kearney, grandson, Mike and his wife Rita VanWinkle of Wood River, granddaughter, Afton Gardner of Grand Island, great-grandchildren, Shelby, Brandon, Layne, Dakota and DreAuna, sister Joanna McDonald of Ravenna, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.

Ken was preceded in death by his wife Nadine, and his parents, Earl and Velma Bly.
