Kenneth W. Kroeger

October 16, 1932 — January 9, 2015

Kenneth W. Kroeger, 82, of Grand Island died Friday, January 9, 2015, at the Grand Island Veterans Home.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday at St. Marys Cathedral in Grand Island. The Rev. Richard Piontkowski will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM Monday at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island concluding with a parish rosary at 7:00 PM.

Mr. Kroeger was born October 16, 1932, near Worms in Merrick County, Nebraska to William F. and Lillian (Luebbe) Kroeger. He grew up and attended school in Omaha graduating from Omaha South High School in 1950.

Kenneth entered the U.S. Army in January of 1953 and served in France during the Korean Conflict. He received his honorable discharge in December of 1954.

He married Erma Jean Lorenzen on November 14, 1959, at St. Marys Cathedral in Grand Island.

Mr. Kroeger worked as a skilled cabinetmaker at Stoltenberg Cabinet Shop for over 40 years, and at the Grand Island Veterans Home for 10 years.

He was member of St. Marys Cathedral parish and a life member of the VFW.

Kenneth enjoyed classic cars, traveling and going to his Army reunions.

He is survived by his wife, Erma of Grand Island; one son and daughter-in-law, Neil and Wendy Kroeger of Lincoln; one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Brad OConnell of St. Libory; grandchildren, Alex and Isabelle Kroeger, and Allison and Abby OConnell.

Memorials are suggested to St. Marys Cathedral or the Central Nebraska Humane Society.
