Kurt Perkins

Kurt Perkins, 53, of Grand Island, died July 27, 2017, at CHI St. Francis Medical Center. Memorial service will be 10:30 am Monday, July 31, 2017, at Apfel Funeral Home. The Reverend Kelly Karges will officiate. Burial will be at Grand Island City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.

Kurt Douglas was born December 30, 1963, in Grand Island, to Kenneth and Susanne (Brown) Perkins. He grew up in Grand Island and attended Grand Island Senior High; graduating in 1982.

He entered the United States Army in 1982. He was stationed at Fort Riley, KS in the 1st infantry division and was a tank mechanic. He was honorably discharged on July 7, 1986. After returning to Grand Island he worked at Rodeo Road Equipment. He later worked for the Hall County Road Department for 17 years.

Kurt enjoyed horse racing, playing cards, and spending time with his friends, and taking care of his mother.

He is survived by his mother: Susanne Perkins of Grand Island; brothers: Kenneth Darrel Perkins of Minden, NE, and Kelly Dean Perkins of Omaha, NE; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Kurt was preceded in death by his father: Kenneth Perkins; aunts and uncles: Patty (Tony) Calvo, Maude (Clarence) Walters, Junior (Jeanette) Perkins, Jimmy Perkins, and Charles Perkins, cousins: Wray Perkins, Don Walters, and Monte Perkins.
