LaNora J. Shay, 85, of Hastings died on December 13, 2024, at The Kensington. Funeral services will at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Berean Bible Church in Hastings with Pastor Tevin Eddy officiating. Burial will be at Kenesaw Cemetery in Kenesaw following the service. Visitation without family present will be 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Apfel Funeral Home in Hastings. Apfel Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

LaNora was born on June 10, 1939, in Rosemont, NE to Lloyd and Emma (Lampmann) Leetsch. She grew up in Rosemont and Blue Hill, NE and graduated from Blue Hill High School in 1957.

She was united in marriage to Melvin L. Shay on May 18, 1958, in Rosemont, NE. The couple lived in Hastings where she was a housewife and mother. After her children had grown, she was employed at Hastings Public Schools, Karmel Korn, and Wal-Mart.

She was a member of Berean Bible Church in Hastings. Her hobbies were gardening, sewing, knitting, and ceramics.

Survivors include her daughter, Debi (Rick) Hill; grandchildren: Nick Hill, Mackinzi Hill, Jason Wisner, Darci Wisner; six great-grandchildren; brother, Lloyd Leetsch; sisters: Delma Carr, Letha Kral, and Alyce Rae Willey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin; daughter, Tami Shay; sister, LaDelle Shidler; great-grandson, Jonathan Roser; and parents-in-law, Bernice Shay and Joe (Frances) Shay.
