Larry Allan Steiner, 71, of rural Holstein, NE, was ushered into eternity on August 23, 2024, at Mary Lanning Memorial hospital, following a cardiac episode.
Memorial service will be 2:30 PM Friday, August 30, 2024, at Hastings First Methodist United Church with Pastor Lance Clay officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Thursday at the Apfel Funeral Home in Kenesaw. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
Larry was born in Hastings, NE, on January 30, 1953, to Harold and Margaret (Parmenter) Steiner. He was the second of five siblings. He attended Holstein Public School and graduated from Kenesaw High School. He was born to be a farm boy forever, helping on the family farm most of his life. He was united in marriage with Lynette Thompsen on May 30, 1981, in Esmond, South Dakota. To this union three children were born: Nathan, Troy, and Rachelle.
Larry was a very loyal friend, maintaining friendships from childhood until the end of his time here on earth. His greatest joys were his children and grandchildren, tractors and farm machinery (even watching recordings of tractor shows), listening to his favorite music on 8 track tapes, and going to auctions. Even though he was often quiet, he liked being near to the people he loved, listening to the noise and conversation. It is often said that it doesn’t matter what you accomplish in your life, but who you are. This was true for Larry-- his family treasures his presence, loyalty and love.
He leaves behind a loving family: his wife, Lynette Steiner; children: Nathan (Kylie) Steiner of Kenesaw, Troy Steiner (Katie Bunjer) of Lincoln, Rachelle (Kevin) Goshorn of Omaha; grandchildren: Judah, Hadassah, Grace, Olivia, Nora, Jedidiah; mother, Margaret Steiner; siblings: Ken (Twila) Steiner of CA, Corinne (Gayle) Mankin of Hastings, Ron (Annette) Steiner of Hastings; brother-in-law, Dick Urwin of Hastings; and a niece and nephews; cousins and friends whom he loved and cherished.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Harold Steiner; granddaughter, Maizie Goshorn; and sister, Merna (Steiner) Urwin.
