Hastings resident Laura L. Harlow, 92 died Friday, November 11, 2016 at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings Village.
Services will be Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at 10:30 am at Zion Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Paul Warneke officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 pm in the Greenwood Cemetery, York following the luncheon. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings is in charge of the arrangements.
Laura requested no flowers memorials may be given to the Zion Lutheran Church, Hastings.
Laura was born March 12, 1924 to Otto and Lena (Maronde) Junge in Benedict, NE. She attended 2 years of grade school in Benedict, 2 years at the St. Paul Parochial School north of York and 4 years at District 46 in Bradshaw, NE. She graduated from Bradshaw High School in May 1941.
She married W. Dean Harlow, November 22, 1942 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. They lived in Hastings from 1942 to 1943 when Dean enlisted in the Navy. They returned to Hastings in 1948. She was employed at the Swift & Company, Safeway and City National Bank retiring in 1982.
Laura was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church and taught Sunday school. She was a charter member of the Lutheran Ann Society, and she volunteered at the Hastings Food Pantry, Mary Lanning Harp Auxiliary, Meals on Wheels, Senior Action Program and the Orphan Grain Train.
She is survived by, one daughter, Jeanne (Chet) Palumbo of Defiance, MO, one son, David (Gin) Harlow of Hastings, three grandchildren, Geno (Mary) Palumbo of Fenton, MO, Dena (Rick) Hull of Ellisville, MO and Matthew (Shannon) Harlow of Hastings, five great grandchildren, Lexi Hartman, Kyle Hull, Kate Hull, Ryan Palumbo and Jake Palumbo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dean, four brothers, 6 sisters and 1 grandson, Nathan Harlow.
