Lavada 'Pat' M. Martin

Hastings resident, Lavada Pat M. Martin, 80, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Bryan LGH West Hospital, in Lincoln, NE. There will be a celebration of life, Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 12:30 pm at the Eagles Club in Hastings, NE. Visitation will be Saturday, March 10, 2012 from 9 am to 12 noon at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Lavada was born December 11, 1931 to George and Rose (Gruesing) Schmidt in Glenvil, NE. She attended rural county school District 56,near Glenvil, NE. She moved with her family to Venango, NE for eight months moving back to Glenvil, then attending Willowdale Country School thru the eighth grade, she graduated from the Glenvil High School, in Glenvil, NE in 1949. She moved to Hastings, NE after graduation, and had various waitress jobs. She married Darle Martin on August 21, 1952 in Yankton, SD. She also worked at Woolworths and Swifts both in Hastings, NE. She worked at Weyerhouse for ten years and then Dutton Lainson in Hastings, NE for 21 years retiring on January 1, 1994. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, in Hastings, NE. She enjoyed bowling, watching car races, camping on the river by Loup City, NE and taking care of her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Darle, of Hastings, NE one daughter Patty Martin of Bladen, NE, one son Kenny Martin of Hastings, NE , three grandchildren, Jesse, Cody and Martin, one brother, Donald Schmidt and one sister Evangeline Alberts and husband LaVern all of Hastings, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Memorials may be given to the family.
