Laverne E. Juhl

LaVerne E. Juhl, 82, of Lincoln (former longtime resident of York and Shelton Nebraska), passed away on January 2, 2016.



She was born in Geneva, Nebraska, on December 17, 1933 to Reba Jewett Franz and Henry Anton Franz. She married Elmer C. Barrett, right after graduating from Geneva High School, and together they raised six children, in York Nebraska, where she was active in 4H, Church, and served as Distributor for Omaha World Herald newspaper deliveries in York.



LaVerne married Leslie Juhl on July 31, 1983 in Shelton Nebraska, and was blessed with many step-children and step-grandchildren. She worked as a waitress, until she retired, and always very quickly became friends of her

customers. LaVerne was very active in the Shelton church, sang in the choir, and participated in the ladies group. Faith, family, friends, food, and fun were of utmost importance in her life and she always felt blessed to have them all.



LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Reba (Jewett) Franz; sister, Marion (Richard) Nun; niece, Charlotte Fleming; great-nephew, Jason Barrett; grandson, Jason Barrett; granddaughter, Melissa Barrett; and great-grandson, Zavier Colburn Rivers.



She is survived by daughters, Dolores "Kay" (Frances "Ed") Gordon, Suzanne (Steven) Ferguson, Becky Gray (Steve); sons Jon (Shar) Barrett, Stanley (Cindy) Barrett, Max (Sherry) Barrett; 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.



Visitation will be 9:00 - 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 6, 2015 at Metz Mortuary in York, NE. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wdnesday at Metz Mortuary and burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, in York. Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island is in charge of arrangements
