Lavonne K Holst

LaVonne K. Holst of Grand Island, NE passed away Saturday, March 12, 2022 at CHI Health St. Francis.

She was 90 years old.



Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Friday, March 18, 2022, in the Gollaher Chapel at Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island with Rev. Kelly Karges officiating. LaVonne will be buried at the Cameron Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, March 17, 2022, from 5 to 7 PM at Apfel Funeral Home. Memorial donations are suggested for the Trinity United Methodist Scholarship Fund.



LaVonne Holst was born September 18, 1931, on the family farm in Alda, NE to Ed and Mary (Knox) Huebner.

She attended District 6 Valley View County School through the 8th grade and then transferred to Grand Island Senior High School, graduating in 1948.



She was employed by several businesses in Grand Island; the State Welfare Dept., Cornhusker Ammunition Plant, International Harvester Company and retired from the financial aid office of Central Community College in 1994.

She married Rollin Braun in 1954, and had three children, Kathy, Kristin and Keith. Rollin died in 1979, and Kathy died in 1996. She married Don Holst in 2001.



She is survived by her husband Don; her sister, Gayle (Lynn) Nunnenkamp of Grand Island; children, Kristin (Doug) Forsstrom of Lone Tree, CO and Keith (Pepi) Braun of New York City; stepdaughters, Diana (Don) Jensen of North Carolina, Debb (Murray) Thompson of Grand Island and Dede (Doug) Roberts of Fullerton, NE; grandchildren, Shawn Forsstrom, Sara Vaughn, Margot Braun and Maddie Braun; nephew, Chad (Yolanda) Pieper; step grandchildren, Tony Toth, Paul (Shawn) Roberts, Tiffiny (James) Widdifield, Donna (Brian) Michaelis, Denise (Jon) Liebold, Jess Jensen, Brent (Karen) Thompson, Jeff (Shannon) Thompson; great grandchildren, Henry Vaughn, Grayson Forsstrom; step great grandchildren, Joey & Elanor Jensen, Zoe & Graylee Toth, Madison Abigail & Jackson Widdifield, Jared & Jarod Erb, Zac & Nicolette Little; step great great granddaughter, Eleanor Little



She was a life-long member of Trinity United Methodist Church as well as the United Methodist Church Women's Society. A lifelong member of the Grand Island Chapter of the ARC Assn.



She enjoyed playing cards, dancing, cooking and baking.



She was preceded in death by step grandson Donny Jensen and step granddaughter Lucy Toth.
