Leonard Lee Boltz

Leonard Lee. Boltz, 77, of Grand Island died peacefully in his sleep on 5/3/2015 at CHI Health, St. Francis, Grand Island, Nebraska.

Funeral Services will be 9:00 am, Saturday, May 9, at Peace Lutheran Church, 1710 N. North Road, Grand Island, with the Reverend Luke Biggs officiating. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation hours will be 5 to 7 pm., Friday, May 8, at Apfel Funeral Home, Grand Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Veterans Foreign Wars or American Cancer Society. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family.

Leonard was born March 8, 1938 in Grand Island, Nebraska the son of Fred and Edna (Rauert) Boltz. The family moved to Dannebrog in 1943 where he received his education graduating from Dannebrog High School with the class of 1956. Leonard entered the Navy in April 1957 until being honorably discharged in May 1959. Leonard was united in marriage to Lorraine Madsen on November 12, 1961 at Dannebrogs First Baptist Church. The couple resided in Atlanta and Kansas City before settling in 1970 at their farm just west of Grand Island. After working on the family farm, Leonard attended Weaver airlines school in preparation of working at Delta Airlines in Atlanta, Georgia. After moving back to Grand Island, Leonard was employed at Chief Industries for several years and then at Filter Specialist Incorporated. Leonard was a member of the American Legion and VFW. Leonard was also co-owner of L&N Bait Shop for several years complementing his favorite hobbies of hunting and fishing.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Lorraine of Grand Island, two daughters and sons-in-law, Lori and Steve Grasso of Centennial, CO, Lisa and Shon Bourke of Omaha; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lyndon and Cody Boltz of Fountain Hills, AZ, Lanny and Ramona Boltz of Grand Island.

He is also survived by six grandchildren, Anthony and Alex of Centennial, Nicole and Erin of Omaha, Kaden and Kalen of Grand Island; brother, Eddie, sisters, Eleanor and Phyllis, several cousins, nieces and nephews and countless friends.
