Former Hastings resident, Lillian (Cox) Rainforth-Herman, 101, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Good Samaritan Society, Wood River, NE. Services will be Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 10 am at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings, NE, with Rev. Chris Johnson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time in the chapel. Burial will be in the Rosedale Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. A memorial will be established by the family. Lillian was born February 10, 1912 to Clarence and August (Engel) Cox near Prosser, NE. She attended rural school at the Hall County District 53, one mile from where she grew up, she graduated from Hastings High School in 1930. Lillian obtained her teaching certificate from Hastings College and taught in rural Hall County. She married Albert Rainforth on June 2, 1936 at her parents home. Albert passed away October 1980. May 27, 1986 she remarried to Harvey Herman at her sons home in Prosser, Harvey preceded her in death on August 17, 2003. Lillian was a member of the North Shore Assembly of God Church in Hastings and enjoyed gardening as well as being an accomplished artist. She is survived by three sons, Jerry (Colleen) Rainforth of Grants Pass, Oregon, Gaylen (Judy) Rainforth of rural Prosser, NE and Clarence William (Nancy) Rainforth of Stevensville, MT, Foster Daughter, Esther (Harsh) Stephenson of Lincoln, NE, 8 grandchildren (Jeff Rainforth, Jodi Scholl, Terry Rainforth, Fawna Rainforth, Deanna Cao, Tricia Brust, Lisa King, and James Rainfroth), 17 great grandchildren, and 4 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Albert and Harvey, two grandchildren, Thomas Rainforth and Sheri Rainforth and one sister, Mildred Palmer.
