Linda Burton

Linda Burton, 65, of Lincoln formerly of Kearney, died Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Brookside Rehabilitation in Lincoln. Memorial service will be 11:00 AM Monday, January 31, 2022, at Third City Christian Church with Pastor Scott Jones officiating. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Apfel Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Linda Sue was born on December 2, 1956, in Kearney, NE to Robert and Violet (Carpenter) Andersen. She grew up in Gibbon and graduated from Gibbon High School in 1975.

On August 7, 1982, Linda was united in marriage to Darry Burton in Kearney. The couple lived in Kearney, and she worked at Kearney Middle School in the cafeteria and then later at Bob’s Super Store in the bakery and enjoyed decorating cakes there.

Linda was involved with TOPS, Unity House, and NAMI. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, making angels, and any and all crafts. She was known for and will be remembered for her contagious smile and laughter and giving heart, along with being able to find the positive in any situation.

Survivors of the family include: children: Colleen (Ronnie) Ackley, Lisa (Bill) McCabe, Bryan Schlenz, Benita (Carlos) Antillon, Kevin (Mindy) Burton, Dee Jay (Christy) Burton, Elaine (Jeremy) White, Tish Jones, Paula (Ryan) Dygert; numerous grandchildren; parents: Robert and Violet Andersen; sisters: Kathy (Bill) Renshaw, Tammy Moore; brother, Wayne (Betty) Andersen; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Darry Burton in 2011; daughter, Teresa Jefferies; and grandson, Clayton Jones.
