At Our Alberding-Wilson Funeral Home, Harvard, NE location. Harvard resident, Lorene Dorothy (Cliffton) Conant, 86, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2010 at the Harvard Rest Haven, Harvard, NE. Services will be Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at 2 PM at the United Methodist Church, in Harvard, NE with the Rev. Dean Joy officiating. Burial will be in the Harvard Cemetery, Harvard, NE. Visitation will be Monday, October 25, 2010 from 12 noon to 9 PM at the Alberding-Wilson Funeral Home, Harvard, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson com. Memorials may be given to the Harvard United Methodist Church or the Harvard Rest Haven, Harvard, NE. Lorene was born November 11, 1923 to Frank and Lennie (Hoyt) Cliffton in Spring Ranch, NE. She grew up in Pauline, NE and graduated from the high school there. She worked at the Naval Ammunition Depot, where she met her future husband Varian (V.W.) Conant. They married January 4, 1946 in the dome of the State Capital Building in Lincoln, NE. They lived in North Platte and Hastings, NE before moving to Harvard in 1955. Lorene worked at the Hastings Regional Center for many years, retiring in 1972. After retirement she enjoyed being Harvards correspondent for the Clay County News. Lorene was a Husker fan and enjoyed going to many Nebraska football games all over the country. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the Harvard Womens Club. She is survived by one son, Don Conant and wife Mariann of Valinda, CA; and four daughters, Jackie Tindall and husband Ray of Tallahassee, FL, Cindy Becker and husband Glen of Harvard, NE, Jodi Schulte and husband Randy of Harvard, NE and Margie Kliewer and husband Harry of Stockham, NE; two sisters, Delores Waechter and husband Owen of Hastings, NE and Beverly Giacomelli of Santa Clara, CA; brother, Bill Cliffton of Santa Clara, CA; and two sister-in-laws, Arlene Cliffton and Helen Cliffton both of Omaha, NE, and many nieces and nephews who loved "Aunt Rene". "Grammy" is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Varian who passed away December 24, 1984, and six brothers. Lorene was a wonderful mother and Grammy. She will always have a special place in each heart. Her unconditional love, her bright eyes and smile will be truly missed by her family and friends.
