Kenesaw resident, Loretta Ilene Feister, 90, passed away Thursday, October 03, 2013 at the Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare, Hastings. Services will be Monday, October 7, 2013 at 10:30 am at the St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Kenesaw, with Rev. Paul Duffy officiating. Burial will be in the Kenesaw Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, October 6, 2013 from 1 pm to 6 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home, Kenesaw. Apfel Funeral Home, Kenesaw is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be given to the St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Kenesaw. Loretta was born January 16, 1923 to William and Hulda (Steiner) Schmidt in Kenesaw, NE. She was baptized and confirmed at the Kenesaw St. Pauls Lutheran Church. She attended school at District 70 and the Kenesaw Lutheran Parochial School and graduated from the Kenesaw High School in 1941. She attended Kearney State Teachers College and taught school for 6 years in Adams County rural schools. She also worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for 26 years at the Kenesaw Public School. She was married to Karl E. Feister by an Army Chaplain at McChord Field, WA, Karl passed away in 1960. She was a member of the Kenesaw St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Lutheran Womens Missionary League, American Legion Auxiliary, Shiloh Extension Club and the Senior Citizen Group. She is survived by one daughter, Autumn Feister of Vancouver, WA, one granddaughter Brittany (Chris) Barnes of Ashland, NE two great granddaughters, Shea and Kellar Barnes of Ashland, NE, one sister, Janice (Rodger) Harms of Kenesaw, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother, Lavern Schmidt.
