Lorilyn R Elam, 61, of Gibbon passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Kearney Regional Medical Center. Memorial service will be 1:00 PM Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Shelton United Methodist Church with Pastor Michelle Byerly officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Wednesday at the Shelton United Methodist Church. Apfel Funeral Home is assisting the family. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Lorilyn was born on February 12, 1963, in Genoa, NE, to Leslie and Geraldine (Wiser) Juhl. She spent her formative years in Shelton, where she grew up surrounded by the love of her family. She completed her education at Shelton Public School. Lorilyn married Steve Hinton, April 18, 1980, and they later had their sons Joshua and Jordan together.
Lorilyn's life was marked by her dedication to her family, especially to her three sons. She married Richard Lee Elam, and together they built a life in Shelton and Gibbon. Their home was a place of warmth and love, where they welcomed friends and family.
Lorilyn was a woman of many talents and interests. She had a passion for crocheting, creating beautiful pieces that were cherished by those who received them. Her love of gardening was evident in the vibrant flowers and vegetables that flourished under her care. She also enjoyed taking care of chickens and ducks, finding joy in the simple pleasures of farm life.
Canning was another of Lorilyn's hobbies, and she took pride in preserving the bounty of her garden for her family to enjoy. She had a deep appreciation for the beauty of sunsets, often taking a moment to watch the sky transform with colors at the end of the day.
A devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers, Lorilyn never missed a game and cheered passionately for her team. She also enjoyed watching boxing, finding excitement in the sport. However, her greatest joy came from spending time with her granddaughter, Harper. She cherished every moment with Harper, creating lasting memories that will be treasured forever.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; children: Joshua Hinton and his wife Morgan, along with their daughter Harper; Jordan Hinton and his partner Benjamin Willey; and Jadan Jackson. She is also survived by her siblings: Jerilyn Smith, Sherilyn Rodriguez, Darrlyn Juhl, Jocelyn Reeder, and Marrlyn Juhl.
Lorilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Gearldine Juhl, and her siblings, Gwendolyn Juhl and Jacquelyn Juhl.
Lorilyn's life was a testament to the love and dedication she had for her family. She was a wonderful wife, a devoted mother, and a doting grandmother. Her warmth, kindness, and generosity touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
