Lorraine E. Riese

Minden resident, Lorraine E. Riese, 93, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at the Bethany Home, INC, in Minden, NE. Services will be Monday, December 19, 2011 at 2 PM at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, in Holstein, NE with the Rev. Harold King officiating. Burial will be in the St. Pauls Lutheran Churchyard Cemetery, in Holstein, NE. Visitation will be Saturday, December 17, 2011 from 9 AM to 8 PM and Sunday, December 18, 2011 from 12 PM to 5 PM at the Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home, in Kenesaw, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Memorials may be given to the St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Holstein, NE or the Bethany Home in Minden, NE. Lorraine was born December 13, 1918, to Ralph and Blanche (Maxwell) Whipple in Torrington, WY. She graduated from the Holstein High School in Holstein, NE in 1936. She worked 2 years at the Holstein Caf(c) until she married LaVern J. Riese, on June 19, 1938 in Wellington, KS. LaVern passed away March 3, 2003. They had lived on a farm near Holstein, NE, moving into Holstein in 1980, where Lorraine was a homemaker. She was a member of the St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Holstein, NE. She is survived by 2 sons, Dennis and Dwayne Riese both of Holstein, NE, and 2 daughters, Karen Eckhardt and husband Larry of Holstein, NE and Shirley Mahlin and husband Ken of Grand Island, NE, 8 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband LaVern, 2 brothers, William Whipple and Randall Seyfer, 1 sister, Yetive Jacobsen and 1 great granddaughter.
