Louis E. Dinnell, 87, of Hastings died Friday, August 14, 2015 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.
Family graveside services will be at 10 am on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings with military rites. There will be no public visitation. Memorials are suggested to the family. Apfel Funeral Home is serving the family.
Louis was born on November 4, 1927 at Curtis, Nebraska, the son of Fred and Margaret (Atwater) Dinnell. He grew up in the Hastings, Nebraska area, attending school there.
After his schooling he began working with his father as a Plasterer and also building the Navy Ammunition Plant. He then enlisted and served in the United States Army.
Louis married Irma Strajhans on January 17, 1958 in Los Angeles, California. They lived in California until moving to Lincoln in 1968 where Louis continued his trade as a Plasterer. They moved to Hastings in 1984. Louis retired at the age of 58.
Louis was a member of the VFW 131, the American Legion and the Eagles Club.
Louis enjoyed painting and his dogs over the years.
Louis is survived by his wife Irma of Hastings, brother Robert and wife Joyce Dinnell of Hastings as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother Paul Bud Dinnell, and sisters Annabelle LeBar, Alice Simmons, and Margaret Louise Guftason.
