Trumbull resident, Louis Stafford, 93, passed away, Sunday, February 10, 2019 at his home.
Graveside service will be Friday, February 15, 2019 at 11 am at Greenwood Cemetery in Trumbull with Chaplin John Mueller officiating with military rites from the Doniphan Legion. Visitation will be Thursday, February 14, 2019 from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials may be given to the family to determine at a later date.
Louis was born January 20, 1926 to Virgil Vernon and Madge (Sand) Stafford in Fairbury, NE. After high school he joined the United States Navy from January 1944 to January 1946 during WWII. He served during the Juno Sweep Operation. He was a diesel mechanic during his service. He married Edna Wright on April 2, 1950 in Phillips, NE, Edna passed away November 4, 2008. Louis was a mechanic most his life then an inspector for 15 years at New Holland, retiring February 1988. He enjoyed shooting guns and raising and breaking horses.
He was a member of the American Legion, in Doniphan and the NRA.
He is survived by his children, Candi (Ken) Bazata of Lincoln, Douglas (Judy) Stafford, Kelly (Tony) Lambert and Julie (Eric) Sameulson all of Trumbull, 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and three sisters, Ormah Schuppan, Detta Wright and Illene Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Edna and a brother, Lyle Stafford.
