Lucille E. Stratman, 99 of Grand Island, died Monday, October 12, 2015 at CHI Health, St. Francis, Grand Island.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Apfel Funeral Home with the Rev. Trudy Kenyon-Anderson officiating. A private burial of ashes will be at a later date at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Island. Visitation hours will be 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Apfel Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family.

Lucille Emma Josephine Stratman was born July 31, 1916 in Central City, Nebraska the daughter of Gottlieb & Bertha (Rudolf) Rembolt. She attended Central City Schools for 10 years prior to moving to their farm in the Chapman area, graduating from Chapman High School in 1935.

She was united in marriage to Clarence H. Stratman on June 27, 1936. The couple made their home on the family farm for 25 years later moving to Grand Island in 1965. Two children came to bless their home, Janet E. and Jack D. Stratman.

She was a member of the church for 87 years where she taught Sunday school for many years, and was a 72 year Ruth Circle member. She enjoyed crafts and doing for others. She loved being with family and making others happy. Clarence preceded her in death January 9, 1995 after 59 years of marriage.

Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter & son-in-law, Janet & Jerome Boltz, of Grand Island, NE of Grand Island; a son & daughter-in-law, Jack & Annette Stratman of Grand Island, NE; six grandchildren, Kristine & Larry Coates of Grand Island, Julie & Dick Smithson of Central City, Kevin & Julie Boltz of Polk, Jason & Kathy Stratman of Millard, Tina Dubas of Grand Island, Troy & Melissa Stratman of Phoenix, AZ; 26 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Erwin Rembolt.
