At Our Alberding-Wilson Funeral Home Location, Harvard, NE. Former Harvard resident, Lydia (Glantz) Romanowski, 94 died, Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at York, NE. Graveside service will be Monday, November 5, 2007, at 10:30 AM at the Harvard Cemetery, Harvard, NE with the Rev. Mike Ekahoff officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, November 4, 2007 from 12 noon to 9 PM at the Alberding-Wilson Funeral Home in Harvard, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Lydia was born, September 30th, 1913 to Henry J. and Alice (Weber) Glantz in Englevale, ND. She was baptized in the Congregational Church in Elliott, ND and confirmed in the Harvard Reformed Church, now the United Church of Christ. At an early age she moved to Harvard, NE. She attended the Harvard Public Schools, graduating with her class in 1932. She attended Kearney State Teachers College and the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, NE. She taught in rural schools of Clay County and Harvard Elementary School. She married Rev. Bruno H. Romanowski on August 1st, 1943, he died December 30, 1999. At the time he was serving Trinity Church in Hartley, Iowa where she continued to teach public school. In 1954 they moved to Oshkosh, Wisconsin where her work was in the field of Christian Education, with children and youth. In 1976 the moved to Walnut, Iowa, retirement brought them to York, NE. She volunteered work in the church and community and the Altrusa International. She is survived by 4 nephews and 5 nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband Bruno, her parents, her older sisters, Kathryn Dunwiddle and Vern Schliep, her youngest sister, Colleen Beck and her brothers Edwin L. Glantz, Dan Glantz, Raymond Glantz and Wayne Glantz. A memorial will be established.
