Lyle Twain Clemens

November 2, 1931 — July 6, 2016

Lyle Twain Clemens was born Nov. 2, 1931 at his grandparents home near Tilden, Nebraska and died July 6, 2016 in Hastings, NE. Lyle was born to Homer H. and Verna (Jockens) Clemens. He was raised with his four brothers and two sisters in Neligh, learning to love the outdoors around the Elkhorn River and the local sloughs. He was an avid hunter and fisherman throughout his life.

Lyle earned a scholarship in journalism upon high school graduation, but chose instead the adventure of road construction and was an instrumental part of creating I80 that runs across the state. His career in road construction with the Knight Brothers and Werner Construction enabled him to build and maintain much of the infrastructure throughout Nebraska.

In 1952, he married his high school sweetheart, Norma Jeanne Jeanne Farrier. When Jeannes health began to fail, he left road construction to buy a welding shop in Kenesaw, NE, and worked there until retirement. He was a master at fabrication.

Before Jeanne died, she accompanied Lyle to his high school reunion where they reconnected with Lyles kindergarten crush, Mary Ann Olmsted. Jeanne told Lyle that Mary Ann would be a good fit in Lyles life, and soon after Jeannes death, Lyle and Mary Ann married.

Lyle and Mary Ann enjoyed 16 wonderful years together before Mary Anns Alzheimers caused her death. Lyle was dedicated to her throughout her illness, and when she died, it was very difficult for him. No funeral was planned for Mary Ann, as he wished them to be remembered together. Lyle was blessed to have loved and married two amazing women in his lifetime.

In Lyles retirement years, he drove truck for Jacobitz farms and spent his time as an artist crafting gun stocks from raw wood, lawn ornaments, and original products for his daughters business. He could also spin a good yarn and enjoyed happy hour with his close friends.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents and sister Vangeline Meyer, brothers Vesper, Richard, and DeLoise, and both of his wives. He is survived by his sister Sally (Dick) Drew of Yoncalla, Oregon, brother Gary (Mildred) Clemens of Neligh, children Valerie (Mike) Isom of Allen, Carol Dawn (Rodney) Shaw of Nelson, and Kimberly (Ted) Schaaf, Kevin Clemens, and Lisa (Kent) Hadenfeldt all of Scottsbluff. Lyle is also survived by a multitude of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

A celebration of life has been planned for a later date.
