M. James Zaroban

August 22, 1932 — April 15, 2007

Hastings resident, M. James Zaroban, 74, died, Sunday, April 15, 2007 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, NE. Services will be Thursday, April 19, 2007 at 10:30 AM at First United Methodist Church, Hastings, NE with the Rev. Earl Higgins officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 18, 2007 from 9 AM to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Mr. Zaroban was born, Aug. 22, 1932 to Richard F. and Elise J. (Wohlgefahrt) Zaroban in Hastings, NE. He graduated in1950 at the Hastings Senior High School. He then attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln and Hastings College. He was in the U.S. Air force, as a Staff Sergeant From1952 to1956. He married Barbara K. Jones in Hastings in 1956. Owned and operated Jims Fountain in 1958. Worked for Martin Plumbing, Western Plastics, Fairbury Pipe & Supply, and Nebraska Aluminum Castings, retired in 2001. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the church choir, past Exalted Ruler of Hastings Elk Lodge #159, former member of the Hastings Chorus of the Plains, and a former member of the Hastings Mens Bowling Association. He enjoyed Husker football, golf, Chicago Cubs baseball, bowling and watching his grandchildrens sports and activities. He is survived by, his wife Barbara, daughter Julie Spilinek of Hastings, sons Ken and wife Carla Zaroban of Nebraska City and Todd Zaroban and wife Patricia De Gyldenfeldt of Chicago, IL, grandsons Brad and Justin Spilinek and Nathan and Nick Zaroban. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Richard and Donald Zaroban, sister, Marilynn Hecox, and grandson, Tyson James Spilinek. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church or donors choice.
