Mabel Bell Mccance

Hastings resident, Mabel B. McCance, 95, passed away, Friday, April 14, 2017 at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings, Village.



Graveside service and burial will be Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 1:30 pm at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, NE. There will be no visitation. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings is in charge of the arrangements.



Memorials may be given to the Cancer Society.



Mabel was born September 27, 1921 in Ingram, NE to Ray and Nellie (Nickleson) Griffis. She attended school until the 8th grade at the Farnam Public School. Farnam, NE. She married Lawrence McCance in North Platte, NE on January 3, 1939, Lawrence passed away December 29, 1989. She worked at Monroes in Cozad, NE and later a teachers aide at Hastings Head Start retiring in 2000.



She enjoyed playing bingo, picture puzzles, reading and collecting glass figurings.



She is survived by two daughters, Darlene Payne of Grand Island and Pauline (Jim) Knutson of Fairfield, two sons, Larry McCance of Hastings and Roy McCance of Atlantic, IA, 12 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 21 great great grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawrence, two daughters Carol Wolfe and Peggy McCance, one granddaughter, Pamela Dungan, one grandson, Melvin Benham, one granddaughter-in-law, Teri Benham, one daughter-in-law, Joyce McCance and one sister, Mildred Marlin.
